How to change the voice in a video
Upload a video, pick a preset and download the result. The tool pulls the audio track out of your video, applies the effect, and puts it back in. Four presets: Chipmunk raises the pitch by one and a half, Deep voice drops it by a quarter, Robot runs the voice through a classic ring modulator, and Bass boost adds a low shelf that thickens the sound. The picture stream is copied unchanged, and everything runs locally in your browser.
- 1. Upload your videoDrop a video up to 300 MB and two minutes. Any format your browser plays is accepted.
- 2. Pick a presetChoose chipmunk, deep voice, robot or bass boost. Each preset changes the audio track in a different, clearly audible way.
- 3. Change the voiceClick the button. The audio track is extracted, processed and mixed back in. The video picture is not re-rendered.
- 4. Download the resultSave the MP4 and listen. Want a different effect? Pick another preset and run it again on the same file.
- Tip: the chipmunk effect makes the video shorter because the audio plays faster. The deep voice ends where the video ends, because the slowed audio is longer than the picture.
- For a fun short video, chipmunk wins. For a narration or podcast clip, deep voice sounds more professional.
- The robot preset works best on spoken words. Music through a ring modulator gets noisy quickly.
- Bass boost keeps the pitch the same and only thickens the low end. Use it when you want more presence, not a different voice.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Voice Changer really free?
Yes — completely free, with no hidden fees, no premium tier and no signup required. The tool runs entirely in your browser.
Do I need to install anything to use Voice Changer?
No. Voice Changer works directly in your browser. There is no software to install, no app to download and no plugin required.
Is my video uploaded to a server when I use Voice Changer?
Never. All processing happens locally on your device. Your file never leaves your computer, which is why there is no upload wait and no privacy risk.
Which video formats does Voice Changer support?
It accepts MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV — anything your browser can decode. Output is MP4 by default, playable on any device.
What happens to my file after processing?
Nothing is stored anywhere. Once you close the tab, everything is gone. We have no server, no storage and no access to your files.
Will my video have a watermark?
No — every download is 100% watermark-free. EditVideo never adds logos, branding or watermarks to your files.
How does the voice changer work?
The tool extracts the audio track from your video, applies a digital effect to it, and mixes it back into the video. The picture stream is copied without change, and all processing happens locally in your browser.
Does the video picture change?
No. For MP4 and MOV files the video track is copied byte for byte. For other formats the video is re-encoded to MP4, which keeps the picture visually the same while making it playable everywhere.
Why does the chipmunk effect make my video shorter?
Because the chipmunk voice is the audio played one and a half times faster. The video ends when the faster audio ends, so the last third of the clip is cut off.
Why does the deep voice stop at the end of the video?
The deep voice is the audio slowed down, which makes it longer than the picture. The audio is cut at the video's end, so the tail of the slowed speech does not play.
Can I change the pitch without changing the speed?
Not with these presets. The chipmunk and deep voices are the classic speed-coupled effects: the pitch change comes from playing the audio faster or slower. The robot and bass presets change the character of the sound without changing its speed.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Extraction, processing and mixing all run inside your browser. The file never leaves your device, and once the page is loaded the tool keeps working offline.
What formats can I use?
Any video your browser plays: MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and more. MP4 and MOV get the lossless picture copy; other formats are re-encoded to MP4.
Are there size or length limits?
Videos up to 300 MB and two minutes are accepted. Longer videos work too in most browsers, but processing time grows with the length, so short clips are recommended.
Will the voice change hurt the audio quality?
The processed audio is saved as AAC at 160 kbps, which sounds close to the original. The chipmunk and deep presets intentionally change the character of the voice; the robot preset adds its signature buzz.
Can I change the voice in a song?
Yes, the tool changes whatever audio is in the video, music included. The chipmunk effect on music is a classic pitched-up sound, and bass boost works on any music.
Why does the robot voice sound the way it does?
The robot preset uses ring modulation, the same technique behind classic science-fiction voices: the signal is multiplied by a 32 Hz carrier, which produces metallic sidebands around the original voice.
Is the voice changer free?
Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Processing runs on your device, which is why there is nothing to pay for.
